Habits
Ten habits, one at a time
Zen To Done is not an app you configure. It is ten small habits, and this app has a place for every one of them.
1. Collect
Carry a capture tool and write down every task, idea and commitment the moment it appears. Never trust your head to remember.
2. Process
Empty your inbox at least once a day. Handle each item top to bottom, one at a time, and decide right away: trash it, do it, delegate it, defer it or file it.
3. Plan
Each week pick your Big Rocks. Each day pick your 3 Most Important Tasks (MITs) and do them first, before everything else.
4. Do
Work on one task at a time, without distractions. Close everything else, start a timer and keep going until it is done or the timer ends.
5. Simple Trusted System
Keep a small set of lists in one place, and trust them: Inbox, Next Actions, Projects, Waiting For and Someday/Maybe. Simplicity keeps the system alive.
6. Organize
Everything has its place. Put tasks on lists, dated items on the calendar and information in reference. Never leave things lying around.
7. Review
Review your system weekly: goals, projects, waiting-for and someday lists. A system you do not review is a system you stop trusting.
8. Simplify
Cut the number of goals, projects and tasks to the essentials. Less commitments means more focus and more finished work.
9. Set Routines
Build routines for the things that repeat: a morning start, an evening shutdown, a weekly review. Routines remove decisions.
10. Find Your Passion
Work on what matters to you. Set a few goals that reflect your passion and connect your projects and Big Rocks to them.
